Active Isolated Stretching

Active Isolated Stretching (AIS) is a unique, full-body stretching routine. It is safe and effective because it allows lengthening of the target muscle without triggering a protective stretch reflex.

AIS was developed by Aaron Mattes based on scientific observations and years of clinical experience.  It uses active muscle contractions held for two seconds and repeated several times.

AIS sessions are relaxing, enjoyable and easy.  I guide you through stretches performed standing, seated or lying fully clothed on a massage table.

Conditions benefited by AIS:

  • Headaches
  • Chronic pain
  • Carpal tunnel syndrome
  • Fibromyalgia
  • Sciatica
  • Neck pain
  • Frozen shoulder
  • Tendinitis
  • Arthritis
  • Muscle spasm
