Susan Guttzeit, LMP, MAISS
Licensed Massage Practitioner (LMP) since 1996
Master Active Isolated Stretching & Strengthening Specialist/Educator
Certification - AIS Therapist
ACE-certified Personal Trainer
I received my massage practitioner license in 1996 upon graduation from the Pacific Center for Bodywork and Awareness on the Hawaiian Island of Kauai. A pivotal influence in my treatment approach occurred in 2002 after attending a workshop in Muscle Release Technique with Michael Young where I was introduced to Active Isolated Stretching (AIS). Since 2004 I have made this stretching system the focal point of my work.
A 2-week internship at the clinic of Aaron Mattes, the developer of Active Isolated Stretching, an advanced AI Stretching & Strengthening seminar with Mattes in 2008, and countless hours of mentorship with Joshua Morton, one of the top practitioners in this field, have deepened my knowledge and expertise in this technique. Since 2004 I have been an instructor with AIS Northwest - an institution for training professionals and informing the public about the benefits of AIS and recently MLT. Certified as an AIS Therapist through the AIS National Certifying Body (AISNCB) in December 2015.
In 2012 I completed basic certification in Manual Ligament Therapy (MLT), created by Arik Gohl, which facilitates an assisted stretching session for greater efficacy and success. I have been an ACE (American Council on Exercise) certified Personal Trainer since 2007.
Having lived many years in Germany I am fluent in German and translated Joshua Morton's stretching manual into German.
I enjoy working with people of all ages and in particular educating the public about the benefits of safe and effective stretching techniques.
